GIS Intership (GIS5945): GIS Day Road Trip

I created my own celebration of GIS Day as I was driving up to Georgia with my best friend and her cousin for Spring Break. My event took place in my best friend's SUV during the first half of the road trip. My event was very informal discussion since my best friend and her cousin are not very familiar with GIS so I explain what GIS was and numerous uses for GIS in the world. I was able to really capture my best friend's attention because I mention that GIS can be used to create statistic maps showing the different crime rates for areas of city, county or state. She's going to school to for social work and wanting to specialize in help at-risk children. She thought it would be a great tool to used to for her future profession and that she could use GIS to help her focus her attention on children who live in high risk crime areas. My best friend's cousin on the other hand being a typically sixteen year old thought GIS wasn't that interesting and tried to excluded herself from our GIS Day conversation to her phone.
