In this week's lab, we have to deal with a scenario where a distribution center was not able to make all of the pick-ups orders in the same day because there were only 14 trucks on the road. Some of these trucks were met with time violations due to overcompensating for the lack of additional trucks to assist with orders. To fix this, we added to additional 2 trucks to the routes which helped alleviate some of the burden off the other trucks and all of the orders were able to be assigned to a route and be completed that day.
The
new solution would provide better customer service because the trucks are not
having to compensation for being two
trucks short on the road. This allows the trucks be able to make it to each of
pick-up locations without having be strain on time from having too many orders
on one route.
